Chapter Services #1: Kappa Kappa gives medical check-up to APOLC-Angono

The first chapter to hold their service activity in APO Learning Center is our VP Ryan Mananquil’s beloved chapter – Kappa Kappa (NCBA Taytay).
Last August 13, 2010, the residents of Kappa Kappa Chapter lead by Brod and Dr. Abel Villamayor MD with the support and guidance of the alumni offered a free medical check-up to the 20 students of the APO Learning Center. The chapter also provided free medicines and vitamins to the children as well as merienda and drinks for all to share.

APO Learning Center celebrates ‘Buwan ng Wika’

It was a nice Sunday morning last August 29, 2010 when the APO LC Angono had its first ‘Buwan ng Wika Celebration.
Dressed in Filipina outfit, the APOLC-Angono students promenaded along the streets of E. Bautista, E. Rodriguez and Dona Nieves. The parade was followed by a program prepared also by the students with the help of their parents.
A group danced in the tune of Paro-parong bukid while another group danced Carinosa. Sharmaine offered a short Tagalog poem about our country and 2 kids also recited a poem about our national bird – the Eagle. 4 of the students sang a song – Hugis Bilog. Finally, all of the students sang ‘Pilipinas kong mahal’.
It was a wonderful event that was witnessed by guests and friends. The children’s parents were truly proud of their kids and so were the brothers and sisters of APO.

Inaguration Day of the APO Learning Center

The inauguration of the APO Learning Center- Angono, a free pre-school for indigent children, was held last July 19, 2010. It was a momentous event attended by our beloved Vice Mayor Patrick Rubin and one of the municipal councillors Councilor Januver Tiamson.
APO Learning Center opening celebration was a very simple yet very special and heart-warming event. It served as the culmination of the hard work and painstaking efforts offered by a number of brothers and sisters of APO-Ang Alas who initiates and established the said learning center. Taken from the concept of APOLC in Cainta Rizal, the APOLC in Angono is the fourth APOLC to be successfully established by an alumni association of the Alpha Phi Omega Fraternity and Sorority. This APOLC in Angono currently provides free education for 20 students from marginalized families.
During the ceremonies, our president Brother Philip Arpilleda of Alpha Chapter gave a touching speech of thanksgiving to these brothers and sisters. Brother Joey Policarpio of Epsilon and founder of the first APO Learning Center in Cainta also said a few words of inspiration and best wishes. Our distinguished guests Vice Mayor Rubin and Councilor Tiamson also gave their commendations to APO for building such generous endeavour. The two also promised their wholehearted support for the Learning Center. VM Rubin even offered to find a bigger place for the school in time for the next school year.
With the support of the many brothers and sisters, the local and government and concerned individuals and groups, the brothers and sisters of APO-Ang Alas are confident that their goal of providing more classes to accommodate more students will be realized in the years to come, hopefully by next year.
